EMS 140 - Basic EMT Clinical I Offered FL Lecture- 0 Lab/Studio- 1.5 0.5 credit hrs/1.5 contact hrs Corequisite: EMS 118 - Basic EMT I and EMS 130 - Basic EMT Lab I
Basic EMT Clinical I is designed to provide the student with hospital and ambulance skill experience. Students will continue to acquire a working knowledge of practices and procedures in the field of emergency care, and experience with other areas of health care in other hospital and pre-hospital settings. Through hands-on training, the student will satisfactorily complete specified performance objectives.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Communicate in an effective and professional manner to patients and colleagues.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in the assessment of the scene, of patients, and method of care.
- Exhibit proper principles of medical documentation and report writing.
- Demonstrate prositive student behavior at all times while involved in clincial rotations.
- Apply knowledge learned in didactic to clinical environment in the careful and safe delivery of service.
- Properly follow guidance and direction of clinical preceptor in regard to patient care and equipment use.
- Exhibit professional student clinical uniform procedure.
