ACC 231 - Computerized Accounting Offered FL, SM Lecture- 2 Lab- 2 3 credit hrs/4 contact hrs Prerequisite: ACC 121 - Principles of Accounting I plus CIS 110 - Introduction to Computer Concepts or BIS 160 - Computer Applications: Microsoft Office with “C” or better (2.0 out of a 4.0 scale) This course provides hand‐on experience with computerized integrated accounting systems that can be applied to all forms of business organizations. Students will be using a popular professional software package in a Windows environment. The emphasis will be on the concept of computerized accounting in general rather than on specific software.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate the use of computer hardware and software used with QuickBooks.
- Enter transactions within a business and understand how to edit and correct entered information.
- Demonstrate their understanding of general accounting and end-of-period procedures.
- Customize business reports and forms.
- Analyze the cash flow and inventory within a business.
- Track financial activities and generate appropriate financial statements.
- Utilize and calculate with payroll options.
- Learn how to file payroll tax forms.
- Communicate business concepts, methods, and evidence clearly in written and spoken course requirements.
- Exhibit ethical/professional behavior in and out of the classroom in attendance, conduct, assignment completion, teamwork and constructive peer feedback.
