CIS 110 - Introduction to Computer Concepts Offered FL, WI Lecture- 2 Lab- 2 3 credit hrs/4 contact hrs Introduction to fundamental concepts associated with using the computer as a tool in the business world. Emphasis is placed on physical components of the computer, terminology, and hands‐on computer exercises using a word processor, data base, and spreadsheet.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Analyze various computer technology career opportunities.
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic elements of computer hardware and software components including operating systems.
- Explain why computers are essential in business and society.
- Define and describe computer technology vocabulary.
- Identify various networks, topologies, protocols, and media types.
- Apply knowledge through lab assignments using different application programs (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database management systems).
- Communicate computer technology concepts, methods, and evidence clearly in written and spoken reports.
- Exhibit ethical/professional behavior in attendance, class conduct, assignment completion, team work and constructive peer feedback.
