EMS 200 - Paramedic I Offered FL Lecture- 9 9 credit hrs/9 contact hrs Prerequisite: Current Emergency Medical Technician Certification & EMS Orientation-Paramedic Corequisite: EMS 210 - Paramedic Pharmacology I , EMS 220 - Paramedic Cardiology I , EMS 240 - Paramedic Clinical I
This course provides information about the pre-hospital management of medical conditions at the advanced life support level. Emphasis is placed on pathophysiology, recognition of signs and symptoms, review of basic life support management techniques, anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, and strategies for advanced life support care.

- Identify the roles and responsibilities of the paramedic.

- Perform intravenous therapy techniques.
- Calculate drip rates using multiple techniques with 100% accuracy.
- Explain the equipment needed in intravenous therapy.

- Discuss respiratory conditions encountered by the paramedic.
