DART 240 - Advanced Digital Animation

3 credit hrs/4 contact hrs
Prerequisite: DART 100 - Introduction to Computer Animation  with “C” or better (2.0 out of a 4.0 scale)
This course enables students to expand their understanding of 3D modeling and animation to articulate and communicate ideas using industry-standard software. In this project-driven course, assignments will focus on 3D environments, modeling, lighting, textures, rigging, and rendering.

Student Learning Outcomes:
 

  • Identify trends, developments, and concepts in the history of animation.

  • Create character-driven animated scenarios utilizing industry standard software.

  • Develop and deliver applied 3D animation projects, including storyboards, character designs, object design, scenes and environments, texturing, lighting, animation, and rendering.  

  • Construct a project management plan for a 3D animation project incorporating industry-standard production processes, deliverables, and timelines.

  • Translate 3D animation work into presentable renderings ready to pitch.
