CIT 121 - A+ Software

Prerequisite:  CIT 120 - A+ Hardware  with “C” or better (2.0 out of a 4.0 scale)
Introduces skills necessary to become a computer support technician.  This course covers topics such as installing and configuring operating systems including Windows, IOS, Android, Apple OS X, and Linux.  It also addresses security, the fundamentals of cloud computing, and operational procedures.  The course prepares students for the second portion of the TIA A+ certification, an industry standard for computer support technicians.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot the Microsoft Windows, Linux, and OS X PC operating systems plus iOS, Android, and Windows mobile devices.
  • Configure and manage PC and mobile device network connectivity plus users, groups, and shared resources in a typical SOHO network.
  • Use anti-virus tools to prevent and recover from malware infections.
  • Configure access control measures, such as authentication, security policy, encryption, and firewalls.
  • Communicate computer concepts, methods, and evidence clearly in written and spoken documents.
  • Exhibit ethical/professional behavior in attendance, class conduct, assignment completion, teamwork, and contructive peer feedback.
