SPN 201 - Intermediate Spanish I Offered as needed Lecture- 4 4 credit hrs/4 contact hrs Prerequisite: SPN 102 - Elementary Spanish II with “C” or better (2.0 out of a 4.0 scale) or equivalency Review of grammar, reading, writing, and speaking Spanish. A study of Spanish culture through literature.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Use intermediate Spanish grammar appropriately in oral and written communication.
- Demonstrate fluency, pronunciation, and listening comprehension in the context of real-world communication.
- Apply vocabulary of high-frequency words, collocations, and idiomatic expressions that are commonly used in the Spanish-speaking world.
- Demonstrate reading comprehension at the intermediate level with a variety of authentic genres, such as newspaper and magazine articles, short fiction, poetry, and/or essays.
- Compose a variety of texts such as comprehension questions, paragraphs, journals, and personal letters.
- Explain cultural information about the Spanish-speaking world as well as the distinctive assets and contributions of Spanish-speaking communities in the United States.
- Exhibit ethical & professional behavior in attendance, conduct, assignment completion, collaboration, work with source material, and constructive peer feedback.
