MTH 223 - Calculus II Offered WI Lecture- 5 5 credit hrs/5 contact hrs Prerequisite: MTH 222 - Calculus I Continuation of MTH 222 - Calculus I . For students pursuing mathematically rigorous STEM pathways such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, or physical science. Curriculum will include a continuation of calculus topics such as techniques of integration, Taylor series, and parametric curves. Curriculum will also include Linear Algebra topics such as vectors, 3-dimensional geometry, and matrix algebra. Skills developed will include meticulous problem solving, spatial reasoning, and mathematical abstraction.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Apply the appropriate technique of integration to evaluate complicated integrals.
- Determine the convergence or divergence of a given infinite sequence or series by applying an appropriate test.
- Solve an application problem using a power series. • Graph and perform calculus operations on parametric functions.
- Differentiate, integrate, dot, and cross vectors and vector-valued functions.
- Calculate the kernel and image space for linear transformation from an n-dimensional real vector space into an m-dimensional real vector space.
- Calculate eigenvalues and eigenvectors for two-by-two and three-by-three matrices.
