CIT 191 - Ethical Hacking Offered FL Lecture- 1 Lab- 3 3 credit hrs/4 contact hrs Entry level knowledge in information security and network security will be presented, including the tools and methodologies of a malicious hacker, but from a lawful and legitimate perspective. Basic knowledge and skills required to plan and scope an assessment, understand legal and compliance requirements, perform vulnerability scanning and penetration testing, analyze data, and effectively report and communicate results will be covered.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the security purposes and functions of network devices and technologies.
- Prepare proper auditing, documentation, and logs.
- Describe the appropriate method to conduct penetration tests to assess vulnerabilities.
- Apply procedural concepts necessary to identify different methods of identification, authentication, and authorization.
- Explain risk related concepts, and the importance of incident response procedures, business continuity plans, and disaster recovery plans.
- Understand and identify different types of cryptography.
- Communicate computer concepts, methods, and evidence clearly in written and spoken documents.
