DART 150 - Introduction to Game Design & Development

This course covers fundamental concepts related to the process of designing games, such as brainstorming, conceptualizing, storyboarding, design thinking, game balancing, player psychology and play testing. Additionally, topics such as game history and types of games are also discussed. 

Student Learning Outcomes:
 

  • Identify fundamental concepts, genres, trends, and developments in game design. 

  • Articulate the process of designing a game. 

  • Demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts of copyright and fair use.  

  • Develop a game utilizing brainstorming, conceptualizing, storyboarding, design thinking, role play, game balancing, and play testing. 

  • Deliver a product presentation incorporating visual and auditory components.
