BUS 257 - Business Composition Offered FL, WI Lecture- 3 3 credit hrs/3 contact hrs Prerequisite: ENG 111 - English Composition I with “C” or better (2.0 out of a 4.0 scale) Develops the ability to research and write effective reports and correspondence by communicating facts, ideas, and opinions in writing.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Examine the communication process and how human behavior affects communication in the business environment.
- Apply business writing principles to plan and compose clear, concise, and accurate business letters and memos that accomplish writer goals.
- Identify ethical, legal, cultural, and global issues affecting business communication.
- Select the appropriate communication channel with a specific business situation.
- Identify and solve business problems through researching and reporting the findings in formal and informal reports using business writing mechanics and design.
- Demonstrate understanding of the job search process.
- Research, develop, and present professional and comprehensive business documents that clearly communicate the intended message in a written and spoken report.
- Exhibit ethical/professional behavior in and out of the classroom in attendance, conduct, assignment completion, teamwork and constructive peer feedback.
