CIS 212 - Cloud Platform & Infrastructure

Introduction to the cloud application environments and the public cloud infrastructure, important concepts, and terminology. A combination of lecture and labs are designed to teach students to deploy cloud components. Introduction includes the history of computing and the fundamentals for living in a digital world.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  • Identify basic concepts related to cloud computing technologies.
  • Define the architecture, concept, and differences of various cloud models: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
  • Apply the principles of cloud virtualization and cloud storage.
  • Describe uses of cloud platform within business, education, and public environments.
  • Compare and contrast different cloud programming platforms and tools.
  • Demonstrate professional cloud storage writing skills.
  • Describe cloud security concerns and possible solutions.
  • Demonstrate application development and deployment using cloud platforms.
  • List considerations for cloud migration.
  • Exhibit ethical and professional behavior through regular attendance, respectful discourse, timely submission of work, and constructive feedback.
