ART 157 - Photography I

Introduction to photographic technology on a theoretical and practical level. Students will learn camera types and related equipment, exposure controls, creative controls, and beginning digital production skills.  Students must provide a digital camera with manual exposure settings, possess basic computer skills, and purchase their own photographic paper.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Software: Adobe Photoshop; ProShow Gold; Adobe Lightroom. Fundamental mechanical concepts of the photographic process. Fundamental artistic concepts of the photographic process. Mechanical operations of the camera. Mechanical operations of lenses. Basic lighting techniques. Basic graphic design. The development process of digital photographic media. The ability to see photographs and compose them. To provide critical analysis of photographs including their own and their peers’. Remedial history of the art of photography. To record a properly focused, exposed and composed image.
