ZOO 211 - Ornithology Offered WI Lecture- 3 Lab- 2 4 credit hrs/5 contact hrs A systematic approach to the study of birds. Anatomy, physiology, and behavioral characteristics will be studied. The identification of birds by sight and sound will be stressed.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Be able to discuss the form and function of birds.
- Be able to describe the adaptations that birds have for flight and how birds fly.
- Understand how birds communicate with each other.
- Be able to describe behavior and how birds interact with the environment, including
the seasons.
- Understand the life cycle of birds, including reproduction, nesting, incubation, and
rearing of offspring.
- Be able to discuss ways that an individual can enhance the local and worldwide
environment for birds.
- Be able to identify common local birds.
