A systematic approach to the study of birds. Anatomy, physiology, and behavioral characteristics will be studied. The identification of birds by sight and sound will be stressed.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Be able to discuss the form and function of birds.
Be able to describe the adaptations that birds have for flight and how birds fly.
Understand how birds communicate with each other.
Be able to describe behavior and how birds interact with the environment, including
the seasons.
Understand the life cycle of birds, including reproduction, nesting, incubation, and
rearing of offspring.
Be able to discuss ways that an individual can enhance the local and worldwide
environment for birds.
Be able to identify common local birds.
