Introduction to the theory and practice of play production including scenery, lighting, costuming and make‐up.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Stagecraft encompasses those arts of the theater that support and enhance the work of the actors onstage. Instructors for this class take a hands-on approach to teaching stage carpentry, painting, props construction, lighting and sound. Be prepared to get your hands dirty! Much of the set and prop work done in class will later appear onstage. Students will have the opportunity to “take on the role” of set builder, lighting technician, or stagehand for one of the college’s theater productions. Emphasis is placed on team building skills as well as developing technical expertise.
