Through study of vocabulary; grammar; pronunciation; listening and reading comprehension; writing; and basic aspects of cultural awareness, students acquire the fundamentals of the language, with emphasis on conversational Spanish.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Initiate and maintain simple conversations in Spanish on everyday topics, formulating statements and questions in the present with beginning familiarity with the past.
Use relevant vocabulary relative to the individual’s likes and interests.
Utilize appropriate media in the practice and expansion of vocabulary.
Interpret short messages and general ideas expressed in spoken Spanish.
Demonstrate effective pronunciation of elementary Spanish vocabulary.
Explain different outlooks and unique attitudes expressed across Spanish speaking languages and cultures.
Exhibit ethical & professional behavior in attendance, conduct, assignment completion, collaboration, work with source material, and constructive peer feedback.
