PHL 103 - Introduction to Logic Offered WI odd years Lecture- 3 3 credit hrs/3 contact hrs Introduction to the study of formal and informal logic, including major types of inductive and deductive argumentation as well as good and bad forms of reasoning.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the main ideas of logic, including inductive and deductive arguments, fallacies, etc.
- Identify arguments, the parts of arguments, and different types of arguments.
- Distinguish between fallacious arguments and good arguments.
- Apply key concepts and ideas from the study of logic to current world events and real-life situations such as family, work, and personal relationships.
- Compose logically correct arguments.
- Exhibit ethical/professional behavior in and out of the classroom in attendance, conduct, assignment completion, teamwork and constructive peer feedback.
