MTH 121 - Intermediate Algebra Offered FL, WI, SM Lecture- 4 4 credit hrs/4 contact hrs Prerequisite: Appropriate placement score or corequisite of MTH 021 - Algebra Essentials For students pursuing mathematically rigorous STEM pathways such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, or physical science. Curriculum will include an introduction to algebraic functions (linear, quadratic, rational, radical) and transcendental functions (exponential and logarithmic). Skills developed will include simplifying expressions, solving equations, and graphical techniques.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Graph, simplify, and solve linear equations.
- Solve a system of equations by graphing, substitution, and elimination.
- Graph, simplify, and solve equations with absolute-value and inequalities.
- Simplify and solve equations with rational exponents and radical terms.
