Through study of vocabulary; grammar; pronunciation; listening and reading comprehension; writing; and basic aspects of cultural awareness, students acquire the fundamentals of the language, with emphasis on conversational French.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Initiate and maintain simple conversations in French on everyday topics, formulating statements and questions in the present with beginning familiarity with the past.
Use and pronounce intelligibly relevant vocabulary reflective of the individual’s likes and interests.
Utilize media and the internet in the practice and expansion of vocabulary.
Comprehend short messages and general ideas expressed in spoken French.
Explain different outlooks and unique attitudes expressed in another language and culture.
Exhibit ethical & professional behavior in attendance, conduct, assignment completion, collaboration, work with source material, and constructive peer feedback.
