CIS 130 - Programming I

3 credit hrs/4 contact hrs
Prepares students for programming courses by covering topics such as flow-charting, pseudocode, object-orientation, decisions, repetition, data, and structured programming.  Lecture topics will be reinforced with hands-on coding, testing, debugging, and documentation using a modern programming language (Python preferred).

Student Learning Outcomes:
  • Analyze various object-oriented programming elements.
  • Apply knowledge through management of windows in the Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the properties of an object, controls of a form, constants, and pseudo code.
  • Design and evaluate object oriented programs.
  • Communicate computer technology concepts, methods, and evidence clearly in written and spoken reports.
  • Exhibit ethical/professional behavior in attendance, class conduct, assignment completion, teamwork and constructive peer feedback.
