BUS 101 - Business Mathematics Offered FL, WI Lecture- 3 3 credit hrs/3 contact hrs Prerequisite: MTH 051 with “C” or better (2.0 out of a 4.0 scale) or appropriate assessment score Stresses the application of mathematics in the business world. Calculations for percentages, discounts, mark-ups, simple interest and discount, compound interest, annuities, consumer credit, and statistics are covered.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate basic mathematical calculations including fractions and percentages.
- Demonstrate use of financial mathematics for bank services, payroll, taxes, and insurance.
- Apply business statistics for measures of central tendency, graphs, and frequency.
- Solve business calculations related to simple and compund interest, present value, and consumer credit.
- Connect acquired knowledge and skills with practical problems in economic practice.
- Communicate business concepts, methods, and evidence clearly in written and spoken reports.
