BUS 101 - Business Mathematics Offered FL, WI Lecture- 3 3 credit hrs/3 contact hrs Prerequisite: MTH 051 with “C” or better (2.0 out of a 4.0 scale) or appropriate assessment score Stresses the application of mathematics in the business world. Calculations for percentages, discounts, mark-ups, simple interest and discount, compound interest, annuities, consumer credit, and statistics are covered.
Student Learning Outcomes: Demonstrate basic mathematical calculations including fractions and percentages.
Demonstrate use of financial mathematics for bank services, payroll, taxes, and insurance.
Apply business statistics for measures of central tendency, graphs, and frequency.
Solve business calculations related to simple and compund interest, present value, and consumer credit.
Connect acquired knowledge and skills with practical problems in economic practice.
Communicate business concepts, methods, and evidence clearly in written and spoken reports.
