BUS 100 - Introduction to Business Offered FL, WI, SM Lecture- 3 3 credit hrs/3 contact hrs This course is a survey of the basic fundamentals on which the field of business is built, how it is organized, what forces influence it, and future developments. It introduces the primary functions of business as it relates to for-profit and not-for-profit organization whether they are large or small. The course also offers insight into laws, business ethics, globalization, and social responsibility.
Student Learning Outcomes: Analyze various business career opportunities.
Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental business vocabulary.
Compare various forms of business and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Analyze the primary business functions such as management, human relations, marketing, operations, and finance.
Recognize the impact of business ethics and social responsibility in achieving competitive advantage.
Communicate business concepts, methods, and evidence in a professional manner.
Exhibit ethical/professional behavior in and out of the classroom in attendance, conduct, assignment completion, teamwork, and constructive peer feedback.
