BIO 123 - General Biology II Offered WI Lecture- 3 Lab- 2 4 credit hrs/5 contact hrs Science majors course in which students will explore transmission genetics, molecular biology of DNA, evolutionary genetics, and biological diversity. Laboratory work gives hands-on experience with DNA analysis, phylogenetics, plant and animal anatomy, and modern biotechnology.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the molecular properties of DNA and RNA.
- Relate the physical properties of DNA to genetic inheritance patterns and variation.
- Diagram the evolutionary relationships across the tree of Life.
- Summarize developmental and anatomical variation for species on a phylogeny.
- Analyze data as a means of scientific communication.
- Utilize the scientific method through hands-on laboratory experience.
