BIO 123 - General Biology II Offered WI Lecture- 3 Lab- 2 4 credit hrs/5 contact hrs Science majors course in which students will explore transmission genetics, molecular biology of DNA, evolutionary genetics, and biological diversity. Laboratory work gives hands-on experience with DNA analysis, phylogenetics, plant and animal anatomy, and modern biotechnology.
Student Learning Outcomes: Demonstrate an understanding of the molecular properties of DNA and RNA.
Relate the physical properties of DNA to genetic inheritance patterns and variation.
Diagram the evolutionary relationships across the tree of Life.
Summarize developmental and anatomical variation for species on a phylogeny.
Analyze data as a means of scientific communication.
Utilize the scientific method through hands-on laboratory experience.
