Lecture- 3 Lab- 2
4 credit hrs/5 contact hrs
Science majors course in which students will explore transmission genetics, molecular biology of DNA, evolutionary genetics, and biological diversity. Laboratory work gives hands-on experience with DNA analysis, phylogenetics, plant and animal anatomy, and modern biotechnology.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the molecular properties of DNA and RNA.
  • Relate the physical properties of DNA to genetic inheritance patterns and variation.
  • Diagram the evolutionary relationships across the tree of Life.
  • Summarize developmental and anatomical variation for species on a phylogeny.
  • Analyze data as a means of scientific communication.
  • Utilize the scientific method through hands-on laboratory experience.
