ALH 118 - Responding to Medical Emergencies Offered FL Lecture- 1 1 credit hrs/1 contact hrs Prerequisite: May be waived with current BLS and First Aid cards Prepares a person to become certified in basic emergency first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) including the use of defibrillators. Addresses decision making in emergency situations as well as professionalism, communication, and application of learned skills.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate lifesaving and emergency action skills.
- Identify and incorporate personal protection measures.
- Recognize and assess injuries and sudden illnesses and respond appropriately.
- Communicate relevant information concisely and accurately to emergency medical system (EMS).
- Exhibit ethical/professional behavior in providing emergency care to victims.
