The Communications Pathway prepares students for transfer and for success in today’s fast-changing, media-rich world. Students learn how to assess, craft, and share messages that inform, inspire, and influence - whether through writing, speaking, multimedia production, or digital storytelling.

Through hands-on practice, students develop professional skills in public speaking, digital communication, interpersonal interaction, and audience analysis—skills that are essential across many businesses, industries, and nonprofit vocations. Coursework emphasizes the ability to research, create, and present ideas effectively using current technologies and platforms, preparing graduates to adapt their communication style to diverse audiences and contexts.

Strong communication skills open doors to virtually every academic field and professional career. This pathway provides an excellent foundation for transfer into Communications, Media Studies, English, or related fields, and for careers in areas such as:

  • Journalism, digital media, and broadcasting

  • Marketing, public relations, and brand strategy

  • Social media and content creation

  • Corporate and nonprofit communication

  • Technical and professional writing

  • Creative writing and digital storytelling

  • Education, business, politics, and law
