ALH 145 - Medical Lab Procedures for Medical Assistants

This course presents the theory and procedures for medical laboratory skills performed in a medical office. The course includes topics such as venipuncture, phlebotomy and hematology, CLIA Waived testing, and urinalysis. OSHA guidelines are emphasized as well as lab safety and quality control in the collection and analysis of lab samples. Important skills such as preparing treatment rooms, interviewing patients and understanding legal issues of the most current testing prorocols and diagnostic tests will be covered.
