ALH 170 - Patient Care Technician Board Prep Offered WI Lecture- 1 Lab/Studio- 2 2 credit hrs/3 contact hrs This course is designed to prepare students for the National Patient Care Technician Exam. The course will focus on Patient Safety, Quality of Care, Policies and Procedures, Communication and Collaboration, as well as Clinical Skills needed to become licensed as a Patient Care Technician.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Differentiate policy from procedures as they apply to EKG, Phlebotomy, and Patient Care Technician roles and across healthcare settings.
- Identify the roles of the National Patient Safety Goals, The Joint Commission, CMS, QSEN, and the National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ).
- Apply safety practices that promote a culture of safety.
- Demonstrate professional communication behaviors that support culturally sensitive patient-centered care.
- Perform clinical duties with competence and care.
- Define patient rights.
- Create a personalized professional development pathway using local, state, and national resources.
