CVT 220 - Critical Care Applications Offered FL Lecture- 3 Lab/Studio- 0 3 credit hrs/3 contact hrs Prerequisite: Acceptance in the Cardiovascular Technology Program. This course is designed to teach students the theory, application, and evaluation of critical care measures for cardiovascular interventional complications and emergencies. This course will provide students with an in-depth knowledge of procedural care for a declining patient or complication occurred during or after a cardiac catheterization procedure. Students will learn protocols for managing patients coming into the cardiac cath lab with existing critical care needs.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Explain complications and emergencies that can occur during cardiovascular interventional procedures.
- Describe patient signs and symptoms that can indicate the onset of complications and emergencies during cardiovascular interventional procedures.
- Identify specific complications and emergencies occurring in cardiovascular interventional procedures.
- Predict plans of action for procedural complications and emergency cases presented to the cardiovascular interventional department.
- Determine measures to resolve complications or emergencies presented in the cardiovascular interventional department.
- Determine basic life support and advanced cardiac life support activities needed in the cardiovascular interventional department.
