CVT 211 - Cardiovascular Pathophysiology

Prerequisite: Acceptance in the Cardiovascular Technology Program.

An in-depth study of pathologies of the cardiovascular system, their physiological symptoms, and respective outcomes. This course includes a detailed discussion of congenital and acquired cardiovascular pathologies.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Explain the process, clinical considerations, and common sites of atherosclerosis.
Describe the clinical appearance of coronary artery and structural heart diseases.
Explain cardiac and systemic considerations in specific populations.
Explain the process and clinical considerations of peripheral arterial disease.
Explain and identify symptoms of heart failure, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, pericardial disease and common cardiomyopathies.
Describe and identify common congenital heart diseases.
