CVT 112 - Cardiovascular Interventional Procedures Offered WI Lecture- 5 Lab/Studio- 0 4 credit hrs/5 contact hrs Prerequisite: Acceptance in the Cardiovascular Technology Program This course provides an overview of the skills required of the invasive cardiovascular specialist for interventional procedures and prepares students for safe participation in clinical education. Procedural focus will be on percutaneous coronary interventions, cardiac assistive devices and modalities. This course will also cover peripheral, structural heart, and pediatric interventions.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Practice hospital and cardiovascular catheterization lab environmental and safety measures.
- Demonstrate safe pharmacological and contrast media practices to protect patient well-being and support patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate procedural operations in foundational cardiovascular catheterization studies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of lesion assessment and interventional catheterization equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and apply to coronary, peripheral, structural heart, and pediatric interventions.
