CVT 120 - Hemodynamics Offered FL Lecture- 2 Lab/Studio- 0 2 credit hrs/2 contact hrs The course encompasses invasive hemodynamic assessment of the cardiovascular patient. Material presented will cover normal and abnormal hemodynamic pressures, hemodynamic calculations, and correlation of these assessments to pathologies of the cardiovascular and related pulmonary structures.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Explain normal pressures in all four chambers of the heart and great vessels.
- Define the phases of the cardiac cycle, normal and abnormal heart sounds and timing of events.
- Define specific cardiac events and mechanical considerations.
- Calculate left ventricular function values and calculations related to valve functions.
- Explain arterial and venous hemodynamic principles.
- Assess the pulmonary and systemic circulation systems.
- Explain normal cardiac hemodynamics and physiologic maneuvers that may affect hemodynamics.
