This course explores the rich cultural diversity, histories, and contemporary experiences of Native American peoples across North America.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  • Describe the archaeological evidence for the early peopling of North America
  • Recognize the cultural and linguistic diversity of Native American societies
  • Discuss the effects of European contact and colonization on Native communities
  • Assess the role of expressive culture and identity in Native American life
  • Explain some of the contemporary issues facing Native American communities
