ANT 112 - Introduction to Cultural Anthropology

This course introduces students to the study of human cultures through a comparative and cross-cultural lens. In particular, the course explores the concept of culture, the methods anthropologists use to study it, and the diversity of human social institutions and relations.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  • Explain key concepts, trends, and theories related to the study of anthropology.
  • Identify the major subfields of anthropology and key research methods used by anthropologists.
  • Analyze cultural practices and social institutions across societies to explore human cultural diversity and commonality.
  • Apply anthropological knowledge to contemporary global and local issues.
