PHL 202 - World Religions Offered WI Lecture- 3 3 credit hrs/3 contact hrs Survey of the core beliefs and practices of the major world religions (Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Daoism, Christianity, Islam, etc.) with an emphasis on cultural and historical context.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Define the major beliefs and practices of world religions such as Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Daoism, and Buddhism.
- Identify major social and historical influences that have shaped the world religions.
- Compare and contrast the major beliefs and practices of the world religions.
- Apply major themes and topics studied by scholars of religion.
- Analyze the connection between the study of religion and everyday life, including the role that religion plays in contemporary society and politics.
- Demonstrate reflective and creative thinking about issues related to religion and the major world religions, such as the problem of religious diversity.
- Exhibit ethical/professional behavior in and out of the classroom in attendance, conduct, assignment completion, teamwork and constructive peer feedback.
