NUR 255 - Leadership in Nursing Lab Offered WI Lab- 2 1 credit hrs/2 contact hrs Prerequisite: Successful completion of NUR 220 /NUR 221 or NUR 240 /NUR 241 and ANP 230 /ANP 231 , and BIO 232 Corequisite: NUR 254 , NUR 260 /NUR 261 , POL 151 , PHL 104
Considers the role of the professional nurse in evidence-based decision making, nursing leadership and management, delegation and communication skills, legal/ethical issues, staffing and care delivery models, health policy, diversity, and quality/safety issues.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Apply the nursing process in provision of holistic nursing care to individuals and families with acute changes in health status in the laboratory and clinical settings.
- Advocate for diverse individuals, families, and populations with acute changes in health status in the laboratory and clinical settings.
- Synthesize pathophysiological and clinical manifestations of common and acute health care disorders in individuals.
- Demonstrate concepts of responsibility and accountability as they relate to professional nursing practice.
- Implement clinical and classroom standards of student performance as delineated in the syllabus.
- Utilize and communicate evedence-based practice in a research study, synthesize key points, and apply findings to clients in a diverse population and settings.
- Analyze the role of the professional nurse and professionalism as it applies to a diverse setting and patient populations.
