Student demonstrates skills learned in NUR 160, including applying clinical judgment and the nursing process to common adult health problems in the acute care setting. Focused health assessments are performed, considering the holistic needs of the patient and the family. Principles of safety, collaboration, person‐centered care, and effective patient and family education are applied to planning, implementing and evaluating care.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Provide effective holistic nursing care to a medical-surgical patient within an acute care setting.
- Demonstrate a focused nursing assessment using data collection and the nursing process.
- Provide accurate information to patient and family to promote health and human flourishing.
- Collaborate effectively and respectfully with all members of the health care team.
- Provide safe nursing care in accordance with facilty and college policies and procedures.
- Evaluate self on progress toward student outcome objectives.
- Identify the role of the prescriber, pharmacist, and nurse in verifying safe medication orders.
- Formulate a nursing care plan based on client need/input and following the nurse process.
