SOC 275 - Social Problems Offered as needed Lecture‐3 3 credit hrs/3 contact hrs Prerequisite: SOC 171 - Introduction to Sociology or PSY 161 - Introduction to Psychology with “C” or better (2.0 out of a 4.0 scale) or Instructor Permission In this course, students examine selected social problems with special attention paid to American society. Topics explored include disparities in health and illness, poverty, crime and violence, gender inequality, racism, and war. The course pays special attention to how sociology can be used as a tool to understand and remedy social problems.
