Paramedic, AAAS

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

The Paramedic program offers an exciting and challenging health care career for individuals interested in providing emergency care in the pre-hospital or hospital emergency department setting. EMT personnel are employed in ambulance services, police departments, fire departments, medical centers, and industry. Positions for EMT personnel should remain consistent due to the rising population of older persons, the segment of the population with the greatest frequency of health care needs. Prior to clinical experience, a criminal background investigation will be required of students. Any negative factors in a student’s background may limit placement in one or more agencies.

Students must complete ANP 118 - Introduction to the Human Body  and have one of the following prior to enrolling in  EMS 208 - Beginning Paramedic :

  • EMS 117 - EMT Basic
  • Hold a valid EMT-Basic License
  • Eligibility to sit for the EMT National Registry Exam
